Like every other piece of a custom skateboard, skateboard trucks can change the way that your skateboard moves and feels. Before you pick out the truck you want for your skateboard, you should know what each specification of the truck will do to your skateboard.
One of the main specifications for a truck is its height. The height can make a huge difference in the maneuverability of your board. A low truck will make it easier for you to flip the skateboard, but, paradoxically, it will make the skateboard more stable. An overly high truck will be able to take on larger wheels, which can make it easier to go longer distances and faster speeds.
Another major factor in choosing a truck is picking the right bushings. The bushings are rubber pieces that help give the skateboard cushioning. A board with really stiff bushings will be quite stable, and a board with really soft bushings will easily turn and will be very maneuverable. Keep in mind that it will be easier to learn on a board with stiff cushioning, but that your bushings will break down and become softer over time.
Finally, trucks are made in different widths. Luckily, this is the easiest specification to figure out for your skateboard because it depends on the width of your skateboard’s deck. Before you buy a skateboard truck, you’ll want to do some research to figure out which width will best fit your skateboard deck. Getting all of these specifications correct will make your custom board perfect for you, and it will make your board able to do exactly what you need it to do.
